Ingredients

  • Salt
  • Chili powder
  • Lime wedges
  • 3 ounces tequila
  • 2 ounces triple sec
  • 3 ounces lime juice
  • 1 ounce lemon juice
  • 2 ounces agave nectar
  • 8-12 ounces Corona Extra

Instructions

  • Mix together 2 parts salt and 1 part chili powder on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rims of two glasses and dip the rims in chili salt. Set aside.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, triple sec, lime juice, lemon juice, and agave nectar. Fill shaker with ice (leaving some room) and shake until chilled, about 15 seconds.
  • Strain margarita into both glasses and top each with 4-6 ounces of Corona. Top off with fresh ice and garnish with lime wedges. Cheers!

Notes

*Agave nectar is a natural sweetener made from the blue agave plant, same as tequila! It can be found at just about any grocery store, even Target! If you must, as an alternative, you can use honey.

To make a big batch for sharing:

Mix together the lime juice, lemon juice, tequila, triple sec, and agave nectar in a pitcher (at this point, skip shaking the drink with ice otherwise it will get watered down as it sits. Instead place it in the fridge to chill it, if time allows), then when you're ready to serve, pour equal parts margarita mix and Corona together in a glass. Enjoy!

If you don't have a shaker:

If you don’t have a shaker, you can also use a mason jar! Screw the lid on tight and shake away. To strain, hold the lid slightly askew while you pour to allow the liquid to come out, while the ice stays in the jar.

Measuring note:

1 ½ ounces is about equivalent to a standard shot glass.
